Frequently asked questions
As an artist we believe your work should be seen by as many people as possible. This site allows you to
show your artwork to an enormous audience at no cost to yourself.
For artists who wish to sell their art, the site also allows you to do this in a variety of formats with no
up-front costs, making us the easiest way to show and sell your artwork to a global audience.
When signing up for the site you are given an option to sell your work in a variety of different formats: either as an original or a reproduction.
To sell art reproductions all you need to do is upload the artwork in files of sufficient quality for the format which
you wish to sell your work. When a purchase is made we will then have everything we need to produce your artwork using
the very latest technologies and distribute the final product to the customer quickly and efficiently. The purchase amount
minus any commission or transaction costs due will then be credited to your account.
To sell original copies of your artwork we need you to get the original artwork to us so that we can ensure when an order
is placed we can meet it as efficiently as possible. Once we have received the artwork it will appear as available for sale
on the site and the transaction occurs exactly as for reproductions.
Yes. Once you send it to us, we securely store the artwork for you until such time as it is sold or you
arrange collection. In case of loss or damage, we are insured for the cost of replacing the artwork.
You don't pay us a penny until your work has been sold! Our standard commission on any sales is thirty
percent of the price of the work. There is also a transaction fee on sales of reproductions which is based
on the cost of printing.
When your artwork is sold, you will be notified immediately. Once we receive payment from the buyer we
will transfer the money, minus commission and transaction costs, directly into your account.
The website enables you to promote your artwork to a new audience, however we also want you to be able to
promote yourself to your own audience. By using aarght!'s range of print services you can easily and affordably
produce anything from business cards and flyers to large promotional posters to ensure that your audience is
reached effectively.
Of course! aarght! is for all artists, regardless of ability or experience. We have no selection process so do not
be hesitant in submitting your work to the website and becoming part of the online art community. If you want
people to see your work then put it up! We do reserve the right however to remove artwork which we deem to be
unsuitable.
For your artwork to be seen on the site we need files of 72dpi (screen resolution) saved as a JPEG file. If
you upload art files larger than this they should work however it will be easy for other site users to download this
large version and make copies without your knowledge.
To convert images into JPEG format see please visit www.photoactions.com/a2jpeg/.
To convert the sizes of images, you can use the software Adobe Photoshop, or downloadable freeware.
To convert image sizes in Photoshop simply go to the toolbar, click on 'image', and then click on 'image size'. A window will appear
allowing you to adjust pixels, dimensions and screen resolution. Set the resolution to 72 dpi and change the pixel width to 750.
At aarght! we want everyone to feel they can enjoy art regardless of ability or art knowledge. We feel that
everyone who uses this site should be of equal standing and we want you to be part of our arts community as much as
anyone else.
That's fine! You don’t have to buy art to have an opinion on it. This site allows you to browse through the art at your leisure and we want your opinions on
the work either through your comments or by you rating the artwork.
Who needs to get it? If you like or dislike an artwork for whatever reason then that's great. You don't need to have studied art
for years to appreciate it, or to do it and enjoy it. aarght! isn't about being a professional, it's about getting involved and
enjoying yourself, wether buying, selling, creating or just looking at art.
Because you like the artwork. Of course artwork can be bought as an investment but we believe that the
defining factor behind any purchase should be that you love the work and want to see it on your wall.

You can change files to PDF (Portable Document Format) format using many applications.
A good free one is PrimoPDF.
If you are a Mac user, you should already have the necessary software to convert your files into PDFs.
PDFs are the safest and fastest way to supply print ready files.
Yes, it will be too large to email, but we provide facilities that allow you to upload files as large as 20MB.
- A 3mm border containing no live area (mission critical text and graphics) MUST be allowed for trimming
(this is known as the bleed)
- Front and Back of document should be setup as two separate pages, do not create both sides in a single file
- Files should be setup at a minimum of 250dpi resolution.
- Files MUST be saved in CMYK format.
- All solid black areas should be composed as a combination of C 40%, M 20%, Y 20%, and K 100%
- We support the following file formats:
- Adobe Photoshop JPEG & TIF files (Adobe Photoshop PSD files MUST have all text layers flattened)
- Adobe Illustrator (AI or EPS) with fonts converted to outlines/curves
- Adobe InDesign (INDD) exported as a PDF (when exporting as a PDF please ensure the bleed is included)
- Adobe PageMaker (PMD) exported as a PDF (when exporting as a PDF please ensure the bleed is included)
- We also accept the standard industry formats: EPS, PDF, TIF & JPEG
Publisher (PUB) are NOT acceptable but can be accepted if exported as a PDF (when exporting as a PDF please
ensure the bleed is included).
We are unable to accept files from Powerpoint (Powerpoint is screen presentation software and is not designed
for professional print use).
Note: If you are sending single sided artwork for a double sided job we will leave the reverse blank. If
you require the same file to be printed both sides you will need
to contact us by email when ordering (we will not accept notification
by telephone).
The bleed is the area that must be trimmed off. To ensure that the document is not trimmed off, place any
text or images away from the bleed area allowing a 3mm border with no live text or images.
All scanned files should be converted to CMYK and at a minimum of 250dpi. To set up in CMYK simply clink on the
'Image' button of your application's toolbar and then go to 'mode'. The option to re-format the image to CMYK will
appear in the dropdown menu.
We can accept all versions of Illustrator. All placed (embedded) files should be set as 250dpi CMYK TIFF files.
If files are not embedded and are linked, please also send the linked files.
These files need to be exported as EPS files or Adobe Illustrator (AI) files. Make sure you include all fonts
that were included when creating the file.
Or you can choose to rasterize the final artwork to a bitmap image (TIFF or JPEG).
You may choose to use another application. However, files must be able to be exported as:
- A postscript file (EPS or PDF)
- A vector image (EPS or AI)
- A 250dpi at a ratio of 1:1 bitmapped image (JPEG or TIFF)
We will not be able to print your artwork if they are not in the above formats.
All font types need to be converted to outlines (paths), otherwise you will need to send the fonts with the file.
