Derek Maitland is an ex-international journalist, war correspondent and author, now based in Sydney, Australia, where he began painting abstract themes five years ago. His latest paintings are inspired by his digital photography, in which images are processed down to their fundamental shapes, shades and colours, then reproduced in acrylics on canvas.
